Hours of Rest
Review actual activities, confirm daily records and sign monthly hours-of-rest records.
Rest Requirements
Hours of Rest checks rest across rolling periods, not just isolated calendar days. Accurate activity records are essential: a planned shift is not proof of the work actually performed.
- The minimum rest requirement is 10 hours in any 24-hour period.
- The minimum rest requirement is 77 hours in a rolling seven-day period.
- Below 77 hours is non-compliant with the seven-day minimum. Exactly 77 hours meets that minimum, although other rest rules may still fail.
- Rest splitting and the spacing between rest periods are also checked. Read the detailed warning rather than relying only on a daily total.
Who Can Use It
Daily Records
Record Actual Activities
Choose the day
Open Daily Records and select the date — tap the date to open a month calendar. Authorised reviewers should also check the selected crew name.
Review the timeline
Use the activity labels Work, Leave, Rest and Travel. Compare any schedule-derived periods with what actually happened.
Correct the record
Adjust the activity periods or hours and add relevant explanations. A hand edit to an automatically populated day becomes a manual adjustment and is protected from ordinary schedule overwrites.
Confirm the day
Use the day's confirmation action once the record is accurate. Saving a record and confirming it are separate states.
Daily Records
Planned Days Are Not Confirmed Days
Scheduled working days appear pale green. This indicates planned activity, not a completed daily confirmation or a guarantee of future compliance. Planned hours never become confirmed on their own.
- Review the confirmation state even when a day already contains saved hours.
- Planned hours are not filled in after a rotation ends, and crew with no rotation are not assumed to be off the vessel.
- A confirmed off-vessel day stays blue.
- Daily Records, Monthly Overview, the dashboard calendar, admin summaries and the PDF all use the same status for each day.

Daily, Weekly And Carryover Colours
Green indicates a compliant day and red indicates non-compliance. Leave and other activity colours describe the kind of day; they are not a substitute for reading the compliance detail.
- A day is red when it is the violation, trigger or end point of a breach.
- A red weekly outline groups the span of one rolling seven-day incident. It can surround earlier contributing days that are not themselves red.
- Weekly breaches are shown in violet and carryover warnings in amber; hover or tap for the explanation.
- Carryover warnings identify an earlier breach that is still relevant to a rolling window — they are not a new breach.
Monthly Overview
Review The Month
The Monthly Overview brings daily records, confirmation status and compliance information together before monthly sign-off. Summary figures sit in the header and the legend uses matching coloured circles.
Select the month
Use the month controls and check that the month and crew member are correct.
Resolve incomplete days
Open missing, unconfirmed or flagged days and review the underlying activity record. A non-compliant day shows a red non-compliance card in Daily Records; click its red Add Justification button, write the reason and save.
Read incident details
Check both daily warnings and weekly incident outlines. Record explanations or follow-up where required.
Check readiness
Every day must be confirmed or justified before the month can be signed.
Monthly Overview
Crew Signature, Then Master Signature
Monthly signing is a two-stage process: the crew member signs their own record first, then the master or an authorised signer adds the second signature. Each signature shows the signer's first and last name beside its timestamp.
Crew review and sign
The crew member checks the month's actual records and signs when the record is ready. The signature window closes immediately and saves in the background.
Authorised review
The master or authorised signer reviews the crew-signed record and adds the second signature.
Check the signed record
Confirm the month, crew identity and named signers before exporting or filing it.
Monthly Overview
Exporting A PDF
At the bottom of the Monthly Overview, click Export Record to download the month as a PDF. The button is highlighted once both the crew and Master signatures are in place; before that it still exports any recorded days as an unsigned copy.
- Check the selected crew member and month before exporting.
- Check whether the record is unsigned, crew-signed or fully signed before using it as final evidence.
- The PDF shows the same Work, Leave, Rest and Travel activities, weekly incidents and named signers as the screen.
Crew Summary
Crew Summary (HODs And Masters)
HODs, the Captain and administrators get a Crew Summary tab showing the month for everyone they're allowed to see, with each day's status. Select a person to open their records, or a day to jump straight to it. Use the name selector at the far right of the tab row to switch crew; ordinary crew don't see it and only ever see their own records.
Templates
Reuse A Working-Day Template
When the vessel enables templates, crew get a Templates tab. Save a typical working day once, then choose Use on a template to fill a day in Daily Records. Check and save the day as usual — a template never confirms a day on its own. Vessel-wide Working Hours Templates are set by admins in Vessel Settings.
