Emergency Muster

Start a roll call, account for people and preserve each muster round.

Where to find it:Gangway Log → Emergency Muster

A Roll Call, Not Just A Headcount

Emergency Muster provides a record of who has been checked during a drill or incident. The gangway roster supplies the starting presence information, but a person's ordinary onboard status does not confirm that they are safe at the muster point.

Follow the yacht's emergency procedures and physical alarm arrangements. Do not depend on an app notification being received.

Who Can Use It

Crew
Can initiate a muster; starting one is not restricted to admins.
Roll-call operators
Use the available muster controls to record confirmed accountability.
Admins
Have the End Muster and re-muster controls on the Gangway Log.

Start And Conduct The Roll Call

1

Open the Gangway Log

Select Emergency Muster and enter the incident information requested.

2

Review the roll

Unchecked people are listed with ashore first, then onboard; checked people show Missing, then Safe; names are alphabetical within each section.

3

Record each result

Use Pending for someone not yet checked, Safe & Accounted for someone confirmed safe, and Unaccounted when the person cannot be located.

4

Resolve discrepancies

Investigate missing people and incorrect presence information under the yacht's emergency procedure.

Never mark someone safe merely because their gangway card says they are aboard.

Who Is Included

The muster uses the yacht's presence information for crew and people visiting aboard. Guests, contractors, day workers and other recorded visitors remain distinct from crew.

  • Accurate arrivals and departures are essential to a useful starting roll.
  • People already departed on leave are not treated as physically aboard.
  • Check actual visitors against the roll rather than assuming every person aboard has a personal app account.

Offline And Unreachable Connections

The emergency layer keeps an encrypted local roster so roll call works when the system cannot be reached — including Wi-Fi with no working internet. A compact banner shows when you are offline.

  • Prepare the intended backup device while online before relying on it.
  • Offline actions stay pending until the connection returns and synchronisation succeeds.
  • Keep the device available after the incident so pending records can synchronise.
Use the yacht's alternative accountability procedure if the device or cached information is unavailable.

End A Muster Or Start Another Round

End Muster closes the current round. Re-muster ends the current muster and starts a new muster record; it never resets statuses inside the existing record, so every round stays auditable.

  • Each round retains its own accountability history.
  • Check people again in the new round rather than assuming the previous safe status still applies.

Prepare Before An Emergency

  • Run drills using the devices that will actually be available.
  • Brief guests and visiting workers on where to muster.
  • Maintain the gangway roster throughout the day.
  • After a drill, confirm that offline records have synchronised and the muster has been ended.
